Kolb's Learning Cycle

Kolb's Learning Cycle emphasises the importance of being able to identify whether you have had an experience and how important it is to have the correct tools to be able to reflect on it. We all experience each stage of the cycle at some point and it is ongoing.

The four stages are-

  • Concrete Experience- Doing something
  • Reflective Observations- Doing something but watching how someone else does it first
  • Abstract Concepts- Working it out in your head first
  • Actively Experiment- Trying out different ideas
We all learn at different stages.

Personally I feel that I begin to learn at all different stages depending on what it is I am doing.

For example, when creating my blog I started understanding how to begin by making reflective observations. I had a look at a few other blogs to see how they were structured and written. I found this very useful as I haven't used blogs before so I wanted to make sure that I was using it correctly.
