During our first skype discussion with Helen we were told about the three pillars of the course.
Pillar 1- Using Unihub and the programme handbook
Unihub is an online resource full of information about the course, its where we can access the academic calendar which gives us key dates such as dates for skype and campus sessions and dates to submit work in.
The programme and module handbook is also included which includes what the assessment tasks are and any reading which we need to do.
There is also a library link that has all of the books and resources we will need for the course. If you go on to Books resources and type in the module code there may be ebooks available online however if not the university can post a hard copy to you.
We also need to sign up to Kortext with your personal email which gives you access to our textbooks.
Pillar 2- Blogs and Skype
We can use the skype discussions and our blogs to talk to others, ask questions and discuss opinions about the module, hearing other peoples opinions with expand our ideas on the topic and increase our knowledge of it overall. We must create our own blogs so we can keep up to date with everything and to keep an eye on Adesola's and Helens blog for any more information. We can post on our blogs whenever we want to, to discuss or ask questions about the module. During the skype discussions it is important that we all participate in making points and being involved in the topic.
Pillar 3- Supervision
Make sure you know who your supervisor is and be prepared for your 1 to 1 with questions you may have and anything you wish to discuss.
Discuss with them what type of contact works best for you both for example via email, so that you can stay in contact in case you have any questions. We can also book appointments on skype to talk about anything we are unclear of or to discuss ideas.
It is very important that we give ourselves TIME to download the books we need and to re read over any work, questions or ideas you have ready for the skype discussions.

Hi Millie, I like how informative your blog is. You were definitely taking notes. Have you downloaded any books yet? I'm not sure which book to try first? Hoping it will be a subject for discussion on the next Skype call. Look forward to working with you. charliesteggles.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi Charlie, I haven't yet but I was thinking about reading 'A handbook of reflective and experiential learning: theory and practice'. But will see after the skype call today!
